Green lentils, originating from the Middle East and believed to be one of the earliest crops cultivated by humans, are a versatile and nutritious legume. They are small, round, and pale green to mottled, with a slightly peppery flavour that holds up well in various dishes.

Nutritionally, green lentils are an excellent source of plant-based protein, making them a valuable staple for vegetarians and vegans. A 100-gram serving provides approximately 9 grams of protein, alongside significant amounts of dietary fibre, iron, and folate. They are also low in fat and calories, with a glycaemic index that supports stable blood sugar levels.

Health benefits of green lentils include improved digestion due to their high fibre content, which aids in maintaining a healthy gut. Their iron content is beneficial for preventing anaemia, particularly in people with increased iron needs, such as women of childbearing age. Cooking suggestion: Cook in boiling water half way (approximately 10 minutes of boiling) then add white rice, sea salt and boil together until fully cooked. Drain excess water if needed. Dress with olive oil or butter and serve on the side or as a main dish.

Delivery is free on all UK orders over £40, with a £4.45 delivery charge for orders below this amount. Once your order has been dispatched, you’ll receive tracking updates directly from the courier, with options available including safe place delivery, delivery to a neighbour, or collection from a local pickup point.
